A woman in Saudi Arabia has finally been issued with an identity card four years after they Saudi government originally decided to issue them to women. There was a snag in this particular case however because one of the conditions for getting an ID card was the permission of the woman's father. The woman was 111 years old. Her father was unavailable for comment.

A 73 year old former New Zealand soldier, Victor Harvey is to undergo a sex change operation with the government agreeing to foot the $30,000 bill. Ms. Vikki Harvey will then be able to change the gender on her birth certificate to 'female'. The former Centurion tank driver said, 'I am entering the latter years of what has been a troubled like, I have no wealth, no income, and I have a gambling habit. Having the surgery will allow me to at least fulfil myself as a woman before I die.'

And it's a snip at thrity thousand dollars.
