There are hundreds of 'ghost' detainees being held by the Americans around the world from Abu Ghraib in Iraq, to Baghram in Afghanistan to Guantanamo in Cuba.

America practices 'rendering' where prisoners are deliberately transferred to countries that undertake torture on behalf of their American 'clients', Jordan, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Uzbekistan to name but a few.Â

Totally innocent citizens from Canada, Germany, Britain and elsewhere, including American citizens, have been abducted and tortured by America both directly and indirectly.

Over 100 people have died while under American custody, to date only two people have been charged with murder, and that was 2 years after the alleged offences occurred.

A year after the Supreme court in America ruled that prisoners in Guantanamo had the right to judicial review, not one of the 500 detainees cases have reached the courts.

America flouts the Geneva convention and torture, abuse and murder is endemic throughout the military.

Nobody takes responsibility, rather any responsibility is evaded. And that is precisely what the world thinks of the US, especially the Muslim world. America is a lying, abusive, murdering, torturing, warmongering, superstitious, ignorant, hedonisitic, bankrupt pariah state and is despised throughout the world.

And Scott Mclellan, in repsonse to the roasting that Amnesty's Irene Khan gave last week, was that America represented freedom and democracy in the world. Only the Americans genuinely believe this to be so, and their delusional smug view of themselves as freedom loving heroes, even as they gun down innocent people in Iraq, is why they have lost the so called 'war against terror'. Such a war was always going to be about hearts and minds, the hearts have hardened to stone and the minds have sharpened into a lust for revenge.
